Re: new arrows!
ODF, I shoot a Great Plains longbow, 62", 50 lb @ 28". I also shoot an old, by most guys standards, Hoyt, Pro Hunter. 56", 47 lb. @ 28". I've never owned or shot what is erronously called a bow with training wheels on it.

Re: 303 British
Those '96 Mausers, (Swedes), used to be all over the place and cheap.....have they dried up? What are they going for now?
If I were ever to go back to modern cartridges I'd try to find a Mod 70 Fetherweight in 6.5 X 55, just like the one I used to have. Sweeeeeeet rifle

Re: Chantrelle?
Hey Ahistory..
Thanks for all the good info, you too micus, I'm grateful
Ahistory, the chantrelle I found, I'm positive it was a chantrelle now, was on the finger of a ridge. I'll have to check locations such as you suggested as they're common where I live. Thanks again to both of you.

Chantrelle?
Question for micus or anyone else who knows. Is the distinct fragrance of apricot from the Chantrelle a positive identifier? I found what I'm convinced is a Chantrelle but I don't have anyone close to show it to. It meets all the criteria in my mushroom book including the apricot fragrance. The book...

Hen of the woods
I found a pretty nice hen of the woods yesterday. Nice and fresh too! Does anyone have a good recipe for them? We tried the recipe out of the Missouri Conservation pamphlet for it and......wellll.....we'd like to try a different recipe so they would taste good. All info I have on the hen is that the...

Re: New deer rifle...
Hey dave... I used to hit quite a few matches when I lived in the Jeff. City area......I guess they could loosely be called rondesvous. Also hit some of the western whing-dings when we lived in Wyoming. These days my interests have digressed in chronology and eastward in geography. Mostly from the R...

New deer rifle...
About a month ago it came in the mail. Box was almost 5 ft. long and inside was a used, custom 45 caliber flintlock. Curly maple stock stained a dark brown with silver patchbox, thimbles, sideplate and butt plate, tasteful amount of raised, scroll carving, the wood looks as if it grew to the metal, ...

Re: squirrls?
There are some pig nuts falling and the shagarks should be close. I've not seen any cuttings here but they should start soon. I'm in the woods every day and there loads of squirrels on my place. I've already taken 28 this year, mostly with my 36 flintlock.

Re: Big Piney
Born, I was down on the Big Piney a couple weeks ago near Paddy Creek and we didn't catch any smallies. As you said, lots and lots of longears and crawdads. I was on the Meremac a few weeks ago and didn't do any good either. Like Hellbender, I don't have an answer.

Re: Two Ruger # 1's
Daffy...don't look if it annoys you. Now you're the one being sarcastic. As I said before, I thought the post was perfectly understandable as evidently did most folks. I'm sorry you had never heard of a Riger # 1. Perhaps a little research on your part would have been enlightening. The information i...
