LS, whatever it was it must have been good. A 20+inch smallie maybe?

Well no, unfortunately, nothing that large, dang it. We floated a 7 hour float Sunday and a small 4 hour float yesterday. We caught all kinds of bass, it was some of the best fishing I have seen on the Gasconade. My biggest Saturday was a 17 inch smallie, as well as numerous fish in the 15-16.5 inch range, 2 of which where big fat largemouths. I also caught a 14 inch smallie that was so fat that it weighed 2 pounds on my brother's scale!!! Took out my cousin's husband who hasn't fished in 5-6 years, and he was able to catch quite a few as well including a 16.5 inch smallie. I'd say between the 4 of us floating Sunday, we probably landed around 80-90 bass, and a lot of those were in the 15 inch range. Not huge, but great fish for the rivers!

Yesterday's float was more of the same. Numerous fish in the 14-16 inch range, and we only really fished 6 pools. Was just me, Pops and my brother yesterday, we we just flat tore them up. Fish were really ganged up, numerous times we hooked a fish and he had 2 or 3 others running with him trying to steal the bait from him. The fish were just very active, it was a great weekend!

What weight jigs do you use for those smallies and goggleye Limshot?

I'm considering send you a secret weapon of my own design.

Still undecided.

I have to be honest, it is pretty rare that I use bottom baits on the rivers. I know I can catch fish on them, I just prefer to use other stuff because it is more enjoyable for me...and it works!!! Plus, I am usually the guy in the back of the canoe that has to worry about controlling the boat and boat positioning for fishing, so it is a little more challening to properly fish jigs and soft plastics that way. Now, if the fishing is slow or tough, I will switch to them for sure. I would be interested in seeing what you are talking about though. Post up some pics, or pm me if it is that much of a secret. Believe me, I understand the power of a "secret weapon."
