I've done that very thing. Crawled out with a fan in front of me. I learned it from Kirk, and it's extremely effective.

About 20 years ago while rabbit hunting in northern Missouri we ran a couple of rabbits into a brush pile. When we circled the brush pile we noticed a hen turkey who had crawled in there to hide and opened her wings and could not back out. We started moving the brush and one of my buddies pulled her wings in and picked her up. She was surprisingly calm. We all looked at her for about ten minutes and then he threw her up in the air and she took off unharmed. It was unbelievable but true.
