Snow Geese

Post by Limbshot » December 12th, 2013, 10:06 am

I am going on an incredible snow goose hunt in South Dakota in March. Never waterfowl hunted a day in my life. Will be hunting over a 1000+ bird decoy spread in cut corn fields I believe. Three days, no plugs, no limit, gonna have a sore shoulder after this one.

I was in the same boat several years ago - had pretty much never hunted waterfowl at all. I went snow goose hunting here in Missouri. It was one of the most fun hunting experiences I have ever had. Laying on your back in the middle of a corn field with about 10 other guys, a shotgun laying across your chest, and literally thousands of birds converging on you. You all pop up in unison and let it rip. Geese falling like snowflakes. It will be an experience you will never forget

These are the guys I hunted with - check out some of their videos - it will get you pumped - http://www.youtube.com/user/HabitatFlats
A clear conscience is the sign of a bad memory.

Russ, be sure to make some goose jerky out of the breast. If you don't know how DMR can tell you how he does it which is really great.

I'm excited about it. This is not an "if we shoot any geese" hunt, this is a "how much can your shoulder take" geese hunt. I'd love to have a jerky recipe from DMR, but he doesnt exactly make it to these parts very often!!!
