Grayfox Down....Oct.04

Post by Swampbird » October 4th, 2005, 7:16 pm

Set-up just inside of the gate to a grown-up cut-over that is a favorite place that produces about 90% of the time, if allowed to rest. (Another hunt posted from this set-up)

Blew a series on Verminator's Thumper and waited for events to unfold. After a 3-4 min. wait, I blew another series and quivered the call as I let the volumn fade into silence. A gray appeared out of the 'thicket' about 45yds and the Ruger spat a 40gr. JHP and the fox folded and went down. Small female with beginning of a nice winter-coat that has "bloomed out" in the tail.

This is one of my favorite set-ups. Let it cool off and it produces, but then the area is infested with fox. After Nov.24, I'll target bobcats here as well as the interior of the 'thicket' has a lot of pushed up brush piles; bobcat havens....
...I'd like to go to heaven, but I've gotten use to hanging with this crowd...
