Reelfoot Lake

Post by jack » March 31st, 2004, 10:36 pm

Headed to Reelfoot Lake in the morning. Should be fishing by 7:30am or so. This will be my 3rd year going down there. It's always a adventure. Last year I broke the kill button off the tiller handle on my 40hp and lost my cell phone and the pin for the trim adjustment in the lake and caught a couple of crappie. Got rained out the 4th day, went to the gambling boat and won 200 bucks. All in all its always a good time. I'll let ya'll know monday how we did.

There used to be a pretty good all you can eat catfish place there in Tiptonville.

Wasn't Reelfoot Lake created during an earthquake around 1900? The same time the Mississippi reversed it's flow temporarily?

Had a great trip all in all.
Left thursday with a migrain headache. Drank about a fifth a day. Caught some pretty nice crappy. Bunch of 10",a few 11" and 12", and some 13" and one 14". Cleaned 140 crappy, 2 catfish and 4 stripers out of my boat. There were 17 guys all togeter that cleaned 410 crappy. I ended up with gout in my ankles by sunday. And the only thing we lost in the lake was one cheap fishing pole.
Not to bad for a bunch of drunk rednecks.

fished a couple of crappie tournies at reelfoot. lot of nice fish there......but watch the stumps!!! they take their share of lower units every year.
congrats on a good trip, jack.
a bad day on the water is still better than not being there at all.
