Fished an 8 ac lake in East Cent. Mo yesterday. We caught a few crappie suspended in deep water, like you'd expect this time of year.
But, we caught the majority in less than 4' of water. They were mostly amongst last year's degraded lilly pads. Many were less than a foot from the surface. We kept over 2 dozen dandies.
They're likin' that sun warmed surface layer.

Re: Shallow Crappie
Good job. The weather this weekend looks like the pits. Pissin' snow and rain @ 40 degrees. Good fishin' weather.
The Doctor said I should drink more whiskey. Also, I'm calling myself 'The Doctor' now.

You're on the wrong side of the state, Dave. It's supposed to be partly cloudy and 49 here on Sat., and 46 on Sun.

I may still get the boat out this weekend. I haven't decided if I'm willing to fish in that weather though. I've done it several times before though.

Good to hear, I found them pretty shallow before the Stormy weekend, but had to switch to the senko for bass on St. Patty's day chocolate water. Have to have ya out soon.
